A New Communications Channel
The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2004 awarded Online Video Service one of the first five-year live webcasting contracts in the history of federal procurement. The NRC, which oversees the safety and operations of 141 nuclear reactors, contracted with Online Video Service after setting a mission critical goal of improving access to its public meetings in Rockville, Maryland.
Collaborating with NRC staff, Online Video Service created a new public communications channel that includes:
- Fail-safe OVS Media Encoders
- Security and redundancy measures that meet federal compliance standards
- Quality assurance tests before each scheduled event
- Webcast management during events to ensure continuous, uninterrupted service
- Hosting of a video archive accessible at any time across the nation
