U.S. Dept. of Homeland Security Picks Online Video Service to Deliver Innovative Training

NEWS ALERT

August 7, 2006

Seattle –  Online Video Service, Inc. (OVS), the recognized leader in Internet broadcasting for public affairs, announced today that it successfully conducted a live webcast via satellite of a nationwide law enforcement training course for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The FLETC utilized the webcast to extend the reach and impact of a special training for college and university campus law enforcement personnel across the nation. Whereas many such trainings have previously been conducted at a single venue, requiring that trainees incur travel costs and time away from their duties, this particular Internet-based training allowed them to participate online instead.

“We applaud DHS and the FLETC for the innovative approach they have adopted toward implementing trainings in a manner that reduces costs and extends the impact,” remarked OVS Chairman and CEO Tim Treanor. “We are proud to have played a role in helping DHS conduct this important training for law enforcement personnel across the country.”

OVS managed the webcast using the Internet broadcasting platform it has developed and implemented for top federal agencies such as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the U.S. Department of Transportation. The company acquired the video signal of the training via satellite from the FLETC venue in the Brunswick, Georgia area.

OVS oversaw content delivery from its central Broadcast Operations Center in Seattle, utilizing the company’s nationwide content delivery network. One of the advantages of OVS’ webcasting platform is its ability to comply with the highest levels of security required by the U.S. government.
